HERE SHE IS.......Adelie Mei Wartman

We received our first of three approvals from China in record time, only 7 days from Letter of Intent to Pre-Approval!!!  We're THRILLED!  It is looking like it's very possible for us to have her home before Christmas!
She will be 20 months old tomorrow - her birthday is January 8, just like mine.  Adelie's diagnosis is "atrophy in the right eyeball" and we understand that she is actually blind in her right eye.  Once she's home, this can be looked at even more - she'll be seen at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.  They're great!

Chinese name:  Jiang Yu Xuan
Jiang - this is her surname, all the children in her orphanage have this surname, "ji-ung"
Yu - means jade Xuan - means announce, proclaim
They call her Yu Xuan (pronounced like "You Shwan")

Here she is at 9 1/2 months old being held by a wonderful volunteer who visited her orphanage for a week, Carrie.  Thanks so much Carrie for the wonderful pictures of her!!!

These are the referral pictures that we received first from our agency.
They are taken in March of 07, she was 14 months old.

The doctors at Children's Hospital International Adoption Center asked for updated photos as they were reviewing her medical information, so here is a picture that was taken LAST WEEK on Aug 29!  She is 19 1/2 months old here.  She weighs 24 lbs and is 29 1/2 inches tall.

Adelie is residing at the Jinjiang City Children's Welfare Institute in Jinjiang near Quanzhou in the Fujian Province. Here is a map of the area- you can zoom out on the map to see that this is a coastal area right across the water from Taiwan.

We're over the moon!

She's so pretty! We live in Cincinnati and have two beauties from China. Cincinnati Children's Hospital is wonderful, esp Mary Staat with the Int'l Adoption Clinic.

Best of luck on your journey to bring her home!!
